I graduated from William Carey University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I later attended Argosy University to obtain a Master of Community Counseling degree. I am a disabled veteran of the United States Air Force Reserves. I served during the Iraqi and Afghanistan wars. My counseling approach is based on an eclectic model and is primarily strengths based and solution focused. I am a certified Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) Coordinator, PREPARE/ENRICH Couple's Facilitator, Mental Health First Aid Facilitator, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). I believe the quality of our relationships are influenced by our habitual ways of thinking. Distorted thinking patterns that contribute to symptoms of depression or anxiety are significantly reduced through cognitive behavioral therapy. Clients who practice corrective thinking can experience improved self-image, new optimism, and hope for the future. Each of us are working on a mental blueprint of one or several personal goals. Also, I believe as a counselor part of my responsibility is to help clients clarify and verbalize their goals, assess where they are now in their journey, determine what is working for them, and encourage their continued progress. I offer clients a holistic perspective that incorporates their values; physical, social, and mental assets; skills, humor, and hope. Ultimately, I look forward to walking a journey of healing and restoration with you to obtain your goal of better mental and emotional health. Practicing Since: 2011 Employment in Mental Health: Prior to being licensed I worked in community mental health for over 30 years. Issues: individual, marital, blended families, sexual abuse, trauma, panic, anxiety, depression, etc. Disorders Served: depression, substance abuse/co-dependency, anxiety, paranoia, schizophrenia, PTSD, ADD/ADHD and Autism Spectrum
